Joe Cocker Plays Invisible Guitar

The third day of the Woodstock festival began with the U.K.’s The Grease Band. Following instrumental renditions of “Who Knows What Tomorrow May Bring” and “40,000 Headmen” for the audience, their leader, Joe Cocker, took the stage.

The crowd was much enlivened by Cocker’s rendition of “Let’s Go Get Stoned” by “The Coasters,” which more than made up for his poorly received cover of Pete Dello’s “Do I Still Figure In Your Life.” Despite spending considerable time in the music industry, Cocker was hardly known. However, the man with the soulful voice became well-beloved worldwide following his resounding success at Woodstock.
