Marlo Thomas – Born in 1937
Marlo Thomas captivated audiences as Ann Marie in “That Girl” from 1966 to 1971. The groundbreaking series showcased a single woman’s metropolitan life, a trailblazer for future female-led sitcoms. This role, along with her production contributions, positioned her as a pioneer in television.
Her work extended beyond acting into social activism and authorship, notably through creating “Free to Be… You and Me,” a project that challenged gender stereotypes. Recognized for her advocacy, Marlo co-founded the Ms. Foundation for Women in 1973. In 2019, she was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as a testament to her enduring impact.
