Beat The Heat with a Dip in Balmorhea State Park’s Spring-Fed Swimming Pool!

June 28, 2021

For the past two years, the pandemic has made life hard for everyone. One of the devastating impacts of the lockdown was the change in sleeping patterns, a changed lifestyle, and an increase in mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety.

What made the situation worse was the lowered social interaction. The average person spent their time sitting in front of a TV munching on snacks, with little to no physical activity. The lack of exercise only made it worse since many people struggled to continue their healthy habits because many gyms and public swimming pools continued to stay closed during this duration.

Now that the vaccines have been rolling out and restrictions are being eased, people are looking forward to stepping out of their homes after 2 years of isolation.

Ready for The Summer

One of the best things about summer is taking a dip in cool waters on a hot day with your friends. Well, for the people of Texas, your dreams are about to come true. The Texas Park and Wildlife Department announced that they will reopen their spring-fed swimming pool from the 26th of June at the Balmorhea State Park.

The pool was closed in May of 2018 after the crew noticed damage to the concrete apron that sparked the danger of the pool collapsing. However, it reopened briefly in March of 2019 but, once again was shut down because of construction that was delayed due to the pandemic.

Here’s What You Need to Know About the Reopening

If you plan on visiting the state park, you need to have the Day Passes which will give you access to the pool and day-use areas from 8:00 am to 7:30 pm. These Day Passes can be purchased from their website but, they are limited in number and you can get them 30 days in advance. Once you get there, you will be provided with a wristband that you will have to wear throughout your stay.

While some areas are still under construction, that won’t stop you from enjoying your time at the Balmorhea State Park.
