Country Joe and the Fish With Their Love Machine

Country Joe and The Fish got formed in Berkeley, California, in 1965. Country Joe McDonald, named after Josef Stalin, and Melton met as members of the Instant Action Jug Band before switching to a psychedelic rock band.

On the third day of Woodstock, things didn’t get off to a good start for the band. The rain figured it was time to join the party even though they were supposed to play their set after Joe Cocker’s performance. They eventually took the stage after a three-hour wait. Their set list featured popular songs like “Silver and Gold,” “Love,” and “The Love Machine.”
