Woodstock Festival Photos from 1969: From Eccentric Spectators to Spellbinding Performances from Iconic Singers

Grateful Dead, Singing in the Dark

The rain at Woodstock didn’t dampen the crowd’s joy, but it created many problems for many of the acts scheduled to play. Additionally, it would be difficult to deliver an outstanding performance if you had to cope with equipment damage and technical issues.

The Grateful Dead even got forced to endure lengthy delays before starting their performance because of issues with the sound system. Plus, they had to struggle with the dim lighting on the stage at the height of their performance. From this picture, you can’t tell they managed a 90-minute set despite their encounter with a rainy night.
