Woodstock Festival Photos from 1969: From Eccentric Spectators to Spellbinding Performances from Iconic Singers
Sweetwater: Pioneers of Jazz Music!

“Exceptional” doesn’t seem to do Sweetwater’s uniqueness justice. Additionally, given that the ’60s were an era in which the uncommon was the norm, it is clear that they stood out from their peers by being unique. The band played the flute, cello, drums, conga, and keyboard instead of a guitar.
They were also regarded as “jazz fusion” trailblazers before the word was even created. And you already know they were talented enough to play as the opening act on Woodstock ’69’s first day. Sadly, they were caught in traffic, and they missed their slot. Fortunately, a chopper brought them in, allowing spectators to witness their performance.
