Bei Booten entscheidet die Masse des Bootes im Vergleich zum verdrängten Wasser darüber, ob es schwimmt oder sinkt. Bei größeren Schiffen halten automatische Pumpen das Gleichgewicht, doch bei kleineren Booten ist Handarbeit gefragt.
