Mélanie Laurent, révélée en 2006 par un César du meilleur espoir féminin pour Je vais bien, ne t’en fais pas, a su conserver sa place dans le cinéma français et mondiale par la suite. Sa popularité devient surtout internationale avec Inglourious Basterds de Quentin Tarantino en 2009. Elle poursuit sur sa lancée avec Insaisissables ou Oxygène sur Netflix.
Ses cachets pour un film peuvent aller jusqu’à 500 000 euros. Parallèlement, elle passe derrière la caméra avec Les Adoptés en 2011 et propose en 2015 un documentaire engagé intitulé Demain qui lui vaut un César. Artiste complète, elle a sorti un album en tant que chanteuse en 2011. Elle a aussi milité pour l’écologie en collaborant avec Greenpeace.
