Rachelle knew she would have to become a regular face and stay curious to adapt quickly. Of course, it wasn’t easy for her to leave her sister behind.

With a new job in hand, she resolved to embrace her new location and house. In her mind, she kept asking herself how it would be to adapt to her new surroundings. Well, one thing she could rely on was comical, aggressive friendship-making.

While in Virginia, where she and Kristelle had never been to before, Rachelle kept meeting people who constantly said they recognized her. Their approach and how they were sure of what they were saying left her wondering. The entire scenario played out as if they had previously seen her in the area.

Like a couple who tend to have similarities due to ingroup biases (the preference for same-race in dating), people made a connection between Rachelle and the woman they were confusing her with. Apparently, she reminded them of a woman who used to work at the same school where she was posted some years back.

Quickly, some of the staff figured out that Rachelle looked exactly like a woman named Shannon Nicoll. Rachelle wondered to herself who Nicoll was. It turns out that she had worked at Tallwood Elementary School long before Rachelle came along. She thought of how they looked the same.

The teacher apparently resembles Nicoll, who is actually her replacement. Unknown to them, Rachelle and Nicoll’s friends began to hatch an elaborate plan to get them to meet each other. Sometimes, people aren’t able to tell what lies ahead with such plans. These friends couldn’t have possibly imagined the consequences of their actions.

Alter Ego

To confirm to her what they’ve been saying all along, people showed Rachelle pictures of her doppelganger. You know, the woman they’ve been likening to her ever since she arrived. To her shock, Rachelle admittedly resigned herself to the fact that they shared several similar features.

Would she quickly jump into the euphoria of the moment? No, she swiftly brushed off the similarities as normal since people can have similar looks. The same reaction was drawn from Nicoll, who also saw it as a mere coincidence. The resemblances made Rachelle miss her sister even more, though; that’s until five years later.

The Possibility of a Truth Revealed

After all the picture-showing and attempts to make them meet, the truth of the whole situation would only manifest itself in 2009. Nicoll and Rachelle would meet for the first time then. It took time to get them together, as their friends had tried to make it happen in vain.

How did they pull the meeting through? Luck was on their side as country music superstar Kenny Chesney was passing through the area. Naturally, people would turn up to enjoy his music and performances to their delight. The musician’s show presented a golden opportunity for the two to finally meet.
