Anok Yai, Met Gala 2023 – Prabal Gurung
Anok Yai mesmerized attendees at the Met Gala with a Prabal Gurung dress that seemed to float around her like the beauty of a jellyfish. Born in Egypt and raised with South Sudanese heritage, Anok made a bold entrance into the world of high fashion at the Met Gala in 2019.
She quickly carved out a place in history as the first model of South Sudanese origin, following Naomi Campbell, to lead the runway for Prada. Her dress, a vision in oxidized gold and silver sequins, was a tribute to Karl Lagerfeld. Anok’s ensemble, complete with sheer gloves and a mask, affirmed her status in the fashion realm.
