Paris’s Canal Cleanup Reveals Astonishing Artifacts—You Won’t Believe What They Found!
Breathing New Life Into History
The move to cleanse the Canal Saint-Martin was part of a larger plan to breathe new life into Paris’s historic waterways. Launched at the start of 2016, this ambitious cleanup tackled years of accumulated trash, silt, and debris. For the first time in 15 years, since 2001, the city undertook the mammoth task of draining the canal to clear out the rubbish and carry out essential repairs.
With a hefty price tag of approximately 9.5 million euros (about $10.4 million), the project was a significant investment in the city’s future, underscoring a commitment to preserving its natural and architectural treasures for future generations.
