Eric comenzó su carrera a inicios de 1950 en el teatro, donde hizo más de 40 obras. Conoce los 2 lados del mundo del espectáculo pues es actor y argumentista, guionista y director de cine. Es de la generación de los actores de la Época de Oro del cine mexicano.
Tiene una vasta producción que consiste en 200 películas de cine y telenovelas, aproximadamente. Cuando cumplió sus 58 años en su carrera artística le hicieron un homenaje en vida en el Séptimo Festival Internacional de Cine Tercer Milenio. El año pasado ha actuado en el cine en 2 películas, Esta historia me suena y Mi secreto. ¿Lo veremos en 2023?
