Nachdem Smith die Nachricht von ihrer Kellnerin gelesen hatte, war sie sprachlos. „Ich war völlig überwältigt und fing an, Tränen zu vergießen“, sagte Smith, als sie las, dass Kinney ihr nicht nur fürs Stillen dankte, sondern auch eine Pizza bezahlte. Wie ihr euch vorstellen könnt, hatte Smith nie mit einer solchen Reaktion gerechnet.
„Nach so vielen negativen Reaktionen der Menschen fühlte es sich an, als würde das Universum mir auf die Schulter klopfen. Ich war zu überwältigt, um zurück ins Restaurant zu gehen und der Kellnerin zu danken.“ Doch bald darauf fand Smith den Mut, Kinney danach zu fragen.
