Stillende Mütter möchten nichts sehnlicher als Akzeptanz. Egal, ob ihr euch entscheidet, euer Kind zu stillen oder nicht, es ist die natürlichste Methode, wie wir Säugetiere unsere Neugeborenen ernähren. Daher ist es am besten, die Entscheidung einer Mutter zu respektieren.
Smiths Erfahrungen mit dem Stillen in der Öffentlichkeit waren zum Beispiel nicht immer angenehm. „Ich wurde angestarrt und schief angesehen. Leute sagten: ‘Es gibt Orte dafür,’“ erzählte Smith. „Bei meinem ersten Kind fühlte ich wirklich Druck und Angst. Ich versteckte mich im Auto, wann immer ich stillen musste.“ Deshalb verspürte Jackie den Drang, sich persönlich bei Kinney zu bedanken.
