Robert Johnson is the founder of Black Entertainment Television (BET) and made history as the first African-American billionaire. Long before his shot to fame, he met Sheila Crump in the 1960s while they both were attending the University of Illinois. Their bond grew over shared interests and ambitions, leading to their marriage in 1969 and having two children.
Robert’s business acumen propelled them into high social and economic status, but over time, their relationship faced strains. They decided to part ways, finalizing their divorce in 2002. The settlement reached approximately $400 million, marking it as one of the largest in U.S. history.
