Disney once hired women to portray mermaids in Tomorrowland’s lagoon, creating quite a spectacle. These “mermaids” donned shimmering tails and performed underwater ballets, capturing the imagination of visitors. However, the endeavor faced challenges, primarily due to the technical limitations of the time.
Breathing apparatuses limited the duration of their underwater acts, and occasionally, the mermaids had to surface, breaking the illusion.
