Skybound: Women in the USAF Defy Limits
In the driver’s seat of her life and career, a USAF soldier captures a moment of joy with a simple selfie exuding femininity. Since the official formation of the United States Air Force in 1947, women have played pivotal roles, soaring beyond boundaries and expectations. Today, they comprise nearly 20 percent of the Air Force, each bringing unique perspectives and capabilities to their missions.
Among the stars of the USAF is Jeannie Leavitt, the first female fighter pilot, who not only broke the sound barrier but also shattered glass ceilings. This modern airwoman embodies the evolution of women in the USAF.
