Don Zimmer, 2000

Don Zimmer was known for being an infielder, manager, and coach in Major League Baseball. He started his vocation with the Brooklyn Dodgers going on to play for several big teams such as Chicago Cubs, New York Mets, and Cincinnati Reds. Over his eleven-year career, he achieved an impressive 91 home runs and 352 batted runs. 

The sportsman suffered an injury in 1953 on the pitch when he was struck on the head and was knocked unconscious, leading him to have two operations. This event led to the MLB association making batting helmets mandatory as a safety measure.
