Petra Gerster – Jahrgang 1955
Petra Gerster, Tochter eines Arztes, verfolgte ursprünglich den Wunsch, selbst in die Medizin zu gehen. Doch ihre politische Aktivität in jungen Jahren führte sie auf einen anderen Weg: den des Journalismus. Sie wurde eine prominente Figur durch ihre Arbeit als Moderatorin des ZDF-Magazins „Mona Lisa“, wo sie sich besonders für Genderfragen einsetzte und dafür 1996 den Joachim-Friedrich-Preis erhielt. Zwei Jahre später wurde sie zur Hauptsprecherin der „heute“-Nachrichten.
Ihr Engagement für die Darstellung von Frauen in den Nachrichten wurde vom Deutschen Journalistenbund gewürdigt. Vor einigen Jahren beschloss sie, sich aus dem Berufsleben zurückzuziehen und genießt seitdem ihren Ruhestand.
