Playful Cubs Crash a Campsite
At the Many Glacier Campground, a family experienced an unexpected visit from a brown bear sow and her cub. The presence of the apex predators was surprising but not entirely unexpected. The encounter was obviously tense but peaceful, with one of the cubs playfully pawing at a hammock.
While such encounters can be alarming, they are not uncommon in areas like the Glacier National Park. In fact, the location had once been temporarily closed to tent campers due to a rogue male grizzly. This incident highlights the importance of alertness and preparedness for wildlife encounters when vacationing in bear-inhabited regions.
