Joachim Sauer und Angela Merkel – 26 Jahre
Angela Merkel führte als erste Frau von 2005 bis 2021 die Bundesrepublik an. Nach ihrer Amtszeit zog sich Merkel aus dem Rampenlicht zurück. Doch im November 2024 sorgte sie mit ihrer Biografie für Aufsehen. Ob ihr wohl ihr Mann, Joachim Sauer, ein renommierter Quantenchemiker, beim Schreiben half?
Die Wege von Sauer und Merkel kreuzten sich während ihres Doktoratsstudiums an der Akademie der Wissenschaft der DDR. Die beiden Naturwissenschaftler machten 1998 Nägel mit Köpfen und gaben sich das Ja-Wort. Für die ehemalige Mutti der Nation war das bereits der zweite Gang zum Altar. Anfang 1981 hatte sie sich von ihrem ersten Ehemann, Ulrich Merkel, getrennt.
