Marietta Slomka ist eines der bekanntesten Gesichter in der Welt der deutschen Nachrichten und so manch einer findet, sie ist auch eines der schönsten. Die Journalistin wurde 1969 in Köln geboren, woher auch ihre Mutter stammt. Ihr Vater, ein ehemaliger Berufsschullehrer, kommt aus Ostpreußen. Mariettas Karriere begann mit einem Studium der Volkswirtschaftslehre, aber sie wandte sich schon früh dem Journalismus zu. 2001 wurde sie als Moderatorin für das ZDF heute-journal engagiert und moderiert die Sendung mittlerweile seit über 20 Jahren.
Privat war sie von 2004 bis 2013 mit ihrem Journalistenkollegen Christof Lang verheiratet. Seit 2019 lebt sie in zweiter Ehe mit ihrem jetzigen Mann, dem Berliner Architekten Andreas Veauthier.
