Alhoewel Ruud Gullit als lid van de Gouden Generatie van het Nederlandse voetbal een echt supertalent was en meerdere grote prijzen in de wacht heeft gesleept, bleek hij niet zo honkvast als het op zijn clubs aan kwam. De man floreerde wat rond en kreeg daar aardig voor betaald. Ook in zijn relaties leek hij nogal een vrije vogel te zijn, want hij heeft ondertussen drie huwelijken achter de rug die de roddelpers heel wat voer voor sappige artikels hebben bezorgd. Na zes kinderen bij zijn voorgaande partners, lijkt hij nu een passend dekseltje te hebben gevonden bij Karin de Rooij met wie hij nog niet zo lang geleden ging samenwonen.
