Wie het veldrijden maar een beetje volgt, zal ongetwijfeld de naam van Mathieu van der Poel al gehoord hebben. En zelfs wie niet van het wielrennen houdt zal weten dat hij al heel wat bekers en medailles op zijn kast heeft staan. De man is een fenomeen in de wielerwereld, maar heeft ook heel wat bekijks omwille van zijn vriendin Roxanne Bertels. Roxanne leerde de fietscoureur kennen, toen hij een uitje aangeboden kreeg met bij Porsche. Zij was verantwoordelijk voor de marketing van het merk en mocht hem in Finland te woord staan. Het was liefde op het eerste gezicht en na een paar succesvolle afspraakjes zijn ze nu niet meer van elkaar weg te slaan.
