Durante a década de 90, ele ganhou grande repercussão nacional por sua participação nas maiores novelas da Rede Globo, como o imortal “Mulheres de Areia”, atuando ao lado de grandes artistas, como Glória Pires, Marcos Frota e muitos outros. E teve grande destaque como Alexandre, espírito obsessor da trama espírita “A Viagem”. Estreou os filmes “Um Trem para as Estrelas” e “Dedé Mamata”, e passou a figurar entre os galãs mais requisitados do Brasil. Por conta de uma polêmica como diretor e produtor de “Chatô, o Rei do Brasil”, Fontes esteve afastado do mundo do espetáculo. Seu último trabalho foi em “Órfãos da Terra” em 2019.
