Como uma das grandes damas da teledramaturgia brasileira, Marieta é referência nacional. Em papéis inesquecíveis, trabalhou em peças de teatro, filmes e realizou trabalhos na maioria das emissoras de TV. Se destacou em novelas como “Vereda Tropical”, “Laços de Família” e “Ti Ti Ti” e interpretou durante anos a divertida Dona Nenê no seriado “A Grande Família”. Foi casada por 33 anos com o cantor e compositor Chico Buarque de Hollanda, com quem teve três filhas: Sílvia, Helena, e Luísa. Hoje é casada com o diretor Aderbal Freire Filho. A atriz não dispensa os cuidados com a pele, e é fã de exercícios físicos. Não come frituras e farinha branca, mas confessa que adora uma cervejinha.
