Als Sara dann jedoch erfuhr, dass Mark nur mit den gemeinsamen Freunden feiern wollte, und seine Familie keineswegs erwähnte, war sie nicht wirklich überrascht. Enttäuscht war sie jedoch schon. Sie hatte große Hoffnung gehabt, jemand aus Marks alten Leben kennenzulernen. Diese Hoffnung war nun zunichte gemacht. Es fühlte sich für sie einfach nicht richtig an, dass niemand aus seiner Familie da sein würde. Es fühlte sich für sie immer an, als gäbe es da ein Loch, und dass Mark ihr und den Kindern zu liebe eines Tages etwas ändern würde. Sie akzeptierte die Tatsache so gut sie konnte, doch innerlich quälten sie viele Fragen.
