Ein unerwarteter Sturm
Der klare Himmel zog sich allerdings zu, und schon bald tobte ein Sturm. Es dauerte nur wenige Minuten, bis aus der malerischen Segeltour ein echter Alptraum wurde. Burgoyne hatte mit einer solchen Katastrophe nicht rechnen können. Noch dazu machte der Künstler einige Fehler, und verlor die Kontrolle über sein Schiff, bis es schließlich gegen einige Felsen krachte.
Der Schaden an Burgoynes Boot war so groß, dass es in die Tiefe sank. Glücklicherweise gelang es dem Kanadier sich zu retten. All seine Habseligkeiten, die er dabei gehabt hatte, sanken jedoch auf den Meeresgrund.
